My First Day With Hope

My First Day With Hope

By Erin Matthews, Orthodontic Assistant at Wise Orthodontics.

As I said in my first blog, my work family at Wise Orthodontics has been extremely supportive of me on my journey with Hope.  My role at the office has changed a little as I have transitioned from my role in the clinical area to an administrative position.  Okay, its changed a lot!  I’ve got lots to learn.  But I have Hope, and she is making my life so much better.

I knew that there would be an adjustment period, boy was I right! I requested the week that Hope arrived off so that we could find our groove. Dr. Wise and Dr. Lee were very supportive and accommodating.  Hope and I started our new position at the front desk on Tuesday March 7th.  We got up at 5:30am to play and eat and play some more before getting to the office at 7:30am. Hope was even better than I expected. She was on her game and she caught 3 sugars that were out of range before 10am. At lunch we went to Frisco Central Park just up the road from Wise Orthodontics to play catch. That afternoon I introduced her to one of our patients who is also a Type 1 diabetic and to my surprise she alerted that her, our patient’s, sugar was out of range, amazing!

Hope stayed with me all day and was an absolute joy to be with.  Quiet and unassuming, she sat at my feet all day and would move around the office with me anytime I had to travel a bit.  She always stays within in a few inches of me so she can alert me to any sugar imbalances.  As the day wound down, the entire team at Wise Orthodontics congratulated Hope and I on a job well done.  Teeth straightening is fun when you have Hope, and we delivered on that promise with clear braces, silver braces and clear aligners like Invisalign.  Hope makes it all better.  All in all, a fantastic first day at work. I think we make a great team.
